About This System

A four-app intercity travel platform connecting passengers, drivers, vehicle owners, and platform operators: two React Router v7 web dashboards for owners and admins, and two Expo/React Native mobile apps for drivers and passengers, all sharing one backend and Firebase project.

Business Need

• An intercity travel network has four genuinely different users (passengers booking a seat, drivers running trips, owners operating a fleet, and staff running the platform), and each needed its own purpose-built app instead of one product trying to serve everyone.
• All four apps sharing one backend and Firebase project means a trip booked by a passenger, run by a driver, and scheduled by an owner is the same trip record platform staff can see and act on: one connected system, not four apps that happen to look similar.
• A cross-border, Arabic-speaking market needs every one of the four apps, not just the customer-facing ones, to be genuinely bilingual with true RTL, so the operational back office is as usable as the passenger app.

System Overview

• Khuta connects four apps around one shared backend: an Admin Control Center and Owner Dashboard (both React Router v7 web apps), and a Driver App and Passenger App (both Expo/React Native mobile apps).
• The Admin Control Center is platform operations' command center: onboarding and vetting drivers and owners, approving routes, monitoring live trips, and managing the platform-wide exchange rate and settlements.
• The Owner Dashboard gives a fleet owner the same level of control over just their own fleet: registering vehicles, hiring and assigning drivers, scheduling trips, and requesting new routes for admin approval.
• The Driver App takes a driver from verified applicant to working professional: onboarding, running the daily trip lifecycle, checking passengers in by QR or manual code, and managing the vehicle-owner relationship.
• The Passenger App is the demand side: searching trips, booking and paying for a seat, tracking the journey, and rating the trip afterward, with a built-in path to apply as a driver.
• Every trip is one record that flows through all four apps (booked by a passenger, run by a driver, scheduled by an owner, and visible to platform staff), which is what makes this a system rather than four separate products.

• One shared trip lifecycle: a single trip record is created by an owner's schedule, filled by a passenger's booking, and run by a driver, visible end-to-end to platform admins.
• Three-role RBAC on the admin side, single-tenant fleet control on the owner side, and dual QR/manual-code passenger check-in on the driver side.
• Native-level bilingual Arabic/English support across all four apps, with true RTL on both the web dashboards and the Expo mobile apps.
• Shared real-time infrastructure (Firebase Cloud Messaging push notifications and live map-based trip tracking) across the whole platform.
